TO JOIN THE PLYMOUTH FIFE & DRUM CORPS

COMMITMENT

Membership in the Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps requires a strong commitment from both performing members and their parent/guardians.  Members practice year around and perform 50 times per season.  Parents are called on to volunteer to drive, cook, clean, sew, make decisions, etc. There is a moderate financial commitment that includes use of uniform, band camp, instruction and tour costs.  This commitment can be offset by fundraising.

MUSIC & MARCHING

The Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps is well known for excellent musicianship and precision marching.  New recruits must master their instrument or equipment.  New recruits must master traditional parade marching, precision formation marching, high step marching and ‘salute’ marching.

Learning to play a new instrument or marching is a challenge.  Learning to do both at the same time is a BIG challenge.  New recruits are given expert instruction in the ancient art of fifing and drumming.  Through hard work and commitment, new recruits are ready for the performance season, which begins each spring.

FUN!

The Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps experience is not all practice and performing.  Students and parents both enjoy the friendships that they will build thru the Corps. What could be better than spending ten days on the road with your new friends!  The highlight of the Fife and Drum season is Tour.  Part performing, part vacation, part giant slumber party and totally indescribable.  All Corps members attend Tour.  All parents are encouraged to attend as well.
